WHERE IS GOSPEL MUSIC HEADED?

They say music has no tribe or kindred, that music is cross cultural and i agree like so totally.look around you and see the way music from different cultures, kindred, tongues has broken the divide among people and fostered forms of unity and collaborations, even if for a short time.....
now if you know me(if you don't, don't blame yourself), you will have noticed i love gospel music.no other form of music gets to me more than that.......
my question is so simple, why is gospel music picking up other identities, because it is almost lost now in the fusion of other genres it has taken.well i can try to understand the reasons, but then the reasons do not support the loss of identity
one advantage though is,it has taught me to pay more attention to lyrics now...guess my head is sharper now......now thats a good thing ain't it?well maybe the only thing oh,and the fact that the gospel is being preached.....well... ok....but the videos and the music, and the dressing.....in gospel music now... well.... i guess i am not yet wise to the new ways of the "gospel"

HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS?

Gibberish... nonsense... bollocks...what ignominy...... was my first thought the first time i heard this phrase....i was like home is home.. the adage east or west home is best worked better for me....we talking years together without making it home and staying in a foreign land felt just that; foreign.
well now the story is different, was talking to michelle,(michelle who?, i hear you ask....well....) online yesterday and the conversation was something like this;
"how's home Alex.... "
"all good" i saw myself write
" must be great", she said, "after all home is where the heart is , right?"
" that's right", i said.
and it hit me.. that my heart really stayed back in a foreign land.....so it goes without saying that now am missing a foreign land even though i am home. just goes to show that it got to me more than i thought it was capable of.
guess i gotta train myself to re-love my country....God will help me...
see you on the other side...

what's wit languages man?

have you ever realized how interesting the worlds of languages is..... what someone considers a really nice word, the other person would consider an abuse literally.....well in this part of the world for example(India).....a tamilian would ask you terio ma?(read it sounds like teri ma) to mean do you know? a Hindi speaking person on the other hand would ask, the same Teri ma?.. to mean ... your mother?....see the potential for a fight?....
well this is one of those areas that really scares me... i had a bad experience once with my Indian friends.. sung a song for my friends.(its a song in hindi)..Ye dosti hum nahi...... but instead of saying leave it alone or as it is(chordenge), i said(chodenge)forgive me.. i can't translate this.... just know thats one of the days i thanked God for my black skin..... i could not turn red!.....lol...anyway..walk the world and hear people speak their languages.. just ensure you keep your hands to yourself... else you'll go about beating up people, or end up being beaten instead....!this world of languages is an amazing world... a real reason why you need to learn at least more than one....see you on the other side!

FROM A FISH'S VIEW

have you ever imagined how it is to live in water all your life, well it ain't that hard to imagine, its like you living on land only better, i don't have to suffer from sweating or having to spend time and money looking for the best deodorants.am ever clean....lol
lemme just give you a brief History
we live our whole lives in the water.we got gills, like those dudes, the amphibians, but they have one plus point they get to grow lungs,we don't.
My gills are on the sides of head(am sure you have seen that!)The gills take oxygen from the water so the fish can breathe.am told they are really sweet, i have no idea you let me know...lol...
Am an insectarian! well...... and some stuff in the water too its important to change the diet once in a while right?......
But just like you human beings, we have a life and we get to reproduce, only thing is we do it in huge numbers that would be frowned upon in human societies!, so you human beings call that spawning!
I get to live 10-15 years at least i the wild but in some swimming pool maybe 20 years, if a fisherman's hook or net does not catch me first, or an oil spill messes up my oxygen, or this water dries up(which reminds me, i must join the race to the sea, I'll be able to live a Lil' while longer there maybe,it can never dry)or some huge fish decides to make me today's dinner......well i get to appraise my situation everyday and prepare myself for anything so that if i die, the regrets are minimal.
Currently i am just five years old a big enough to make a meal for two to four grown up well-eating people!some of my birth-mates have not been this lucky so i guess I'll live longer!maybe!
What's my lifespan? well,Different species different expected lifespan. Some fish live for a single season others live for many years.
like that lucky dude called the shark he has the longest lifespan and gets to eat all of us and some of you...lol...well we have been known to live over 25 years. that's my goal
well i don't mind you eating me up,that's part of nature, what i don't understand is why you have to destroy my habitat too, how i wish i could fight back, but i can't.all i can do is appeal to your life sense, we are animals(fauna)maybe you could consider keeping away from the destruction of my habitat and i in turn will willingly submit myself and my descendants once in a while to your dinner table!
i am from the Tilapia family by the way am sure you are familiar with me.we have been feeding you guys for so long, we stopped complaining!
see you on the other side Man!

Time ....at the movies

been sitting reading at my desk today and asking myself silly questions....... or at least they have been to me.....one thing the ancestors drummed into my head and my teachers have always emphasized is....... time waits for no man..... so my first question was, what if you are not one?a man i mean..... silly right?well till you watch twilight... then you start having strange thoughts in your head...
movies have this amazing way to transport you through time.. either back to when you didn't exist or to a time when you will so not exist........ back to the future literally!....take an example of the spy who shagged me....or Quantum apocalypse..... or independence day....movies that stretch your imagination to nothingness or to something so big... sleep literally runs away!
whether it is a deliberate attempt by directors to cross time and move past it or just scripting good stories, one thing is true.... time ceases to exist at the movies.....
like for example when a parent is just about to die and tells the son or daughter... i will always be here watching.....remember Step Mom when Susan Sarandon talks to the daughter? or Bruce Willis in Armaggeddon... or when Arnold tells Sarah connor....i will be back in Terminator among other movies down the line
or when Ghosts comes back from the past to revenge the past wrongs......i think its an interesting concept, one i will keep on studying
a trend worries me though, that of movies after the 2030 periods.. they all depict a time of great insecurity to life and property makes you ask yourself if you wanna be there then!... but again... like i always say, maybe its just a script well written!maybe i'm being my big lawyer self again!

tests: a necessity?

now one can say tests are a necessity and i would not agree more...but come to think of it what are tests for...to help you realise that which you need to pull your socks on right?but suppose a test comes that does not cover any place you ever did before?then we say dat test is amazingly testing you!!!!!
get into an exam room.. well the time is just around the corner for college guys and the cliched lines are so gonna ring out... what were this guys thinking, they didn't bring anything we studied for...and er.. er .. er...am so going to fail and blah blah blah... i mean
seriously thinking, do you think it would be a test if you already knew whats coming, if they stuck to your exam, them it would not be an exam at all, it would be a walkover...
time to read wide and well... you want to beat somebody up after that, well look for me.. but right now, sit down and study and get going...
now we young people know so damn well how easy it is to complain but i guess unfathomable tests are just that...a test of the substance you are made up of...you just have to choose which one you gonna be..a stumbling block? or a stepping stone?...cheers!!!!....
see you on the other side!
